Japanese people are apt to care what other people think.

That's why we usually use "Book Jacket".

Those pictures below are the Japanese bookstore system.

Basically, when you buy a book (not magazine), it has been covered with a paper which is at the center of the above picture.


Blue one is "book cover". Black small one has been printed a recommendation letter from someone who is famous.

That's enough actually but we are careful about privacy...

At the casher, store clerk says "do you need a book jacket?"

"Yes!" We say.
